Tongariro River Flow: 26.9m3/sec

Weather: Mostly Cloudy

Another hot day for the Central Plateau seeing anglers spoilt for choice with the amazing river and lake fishing on offer. Today is mostly cloudy with potential rain showers, but nothing to bring the river flow up significantly.

Jigging on the lake has been the top choice as it continues to fire for most, seeing a good harvest - putting those filleting knives and fish smokers to good use!

We have received top ups of our favourite lures including Tassie Devils, Tobys, and Savage Gear soft baits!

Browns are making their presence known to a number of fly fishers on the Tongariro recently, seeing them caught throughout the river in both riffles and deep pools. Stonefly patterns, caddis nymphs, hare & copper etc are all working well to see browns and rainbows to the net, but we are anticipating some more consistent dry fly action... of the cicada or lace moth kind 😅🙏

Jonas caught himself a lovely nighttime brown recently! He is well and truly fired up and ready for the next one! Great stuff.
