Tongariro River Flow: 36.9m3/sec

Weather: Wet with periods of heavy rain 🌧

With a good portion of the holiday goers having come and gone, town is certainly on the quieter side today.

The heavy periods of rain have also dwindled out all but he keen fishermen on the Tongariro river today. We are seeing a spike in the graph from all the recent rain, however the river is still fishable. Reports of brown trout cruising in the river and the elevated flow creates the perfect conditions to hook into that giant you've dreaming of.

With the river on the rise, it is a good reminder to keep an eye on the river flows and the forecasted weather as heavy down pours can create fluctuating river levels or even the occasional slip.

Both the Whakapapa and Whanganui are currently rising rapidly, with no sign of each plateauing out, so these would be worth avoiding until levels start to flatten and drop again.

The lake this morning was rather choppy with white caps as far as the eye can see so this is the perfect time to restock on all your gear, smoke those fish or simply just kick back and relax ready for what we hope are better conditions tomorrow.
