Sunday 24th March 2024

A beautiful clear sunny morning here in Turangi before a bit of rain forecast for this afternoon. The jigging & trolling has been in full swing this morning on the lake with some lovely fish reportedly caught still around the 30-45m mark.

The day-time stream mouth fishing on the lake edge up the eastern shores of lake Taupo have been productive over the weekend with some lovely coloured up jacks & silver hens hanging around feeding hard, getting ready for the spawning run. Nice to see the McLean's Weight Nets matching the fish colours!

Haydee has been on the money targeting stream mouth fish on smelt flies & woolly buggers and have a look at her well-earned results! Her Simms G3 Waders keep her comfy, dry & warm while fishing all day. Well done girl, the rain certainly didn't stop you!

The brown trout continue to spawn throughout all our rivers and some beautiful fit silver brownies have been landed, clearly full of eggs and their fly of choice to keep those calories up is the trusty Stonefly!

We have a good selection of Stonefly patterns available in store that have been providing the results. These bigger spawning fish have been moving to take big food! Our favourite Stonefly of choice is the well respected Category 3 '101' which the fish find hard to refuse.

This week we are preparing for our Easter Weekend Sale! So make sure to come visit us next weekend for some summer & winter clothing bargains & more. Enjoy the fishing team, see you out there!
