Tongariro River Flow: 26.6m3/sec Weather: Sunny

Brrr!! It's cold!!

Yesterday, some of us early risers wandered out into the sharp chilly air to find our vehicles with frosted over windscreens so brr-ace yourselves as winter approaches.

Despite the cooler mornings the days are still comfortably warm and lace moths remain a staple for the river trout diet. Tarn got out there for a dabble amongst the lace moth risers in the lower river and had a blast picking fish off the top using a size 16 CDC lace moth imitation.

Paddy posed with his stunning brown trout caught wetlining in the town pools on a bluebird day! Great stuff Paddy 🤘

There's plenty of these fish about, especially along the edges of the rivers and streams, you just need to get out there with your polarised sunnies on and the willingness to adapt to each scenario you come across. Remember to pace yourself, take time to observe fish behavior and be prepared to chop and change your rig/fly selection.

We have Knifekut pig-sticking knives, sharpeners, curved boning knives, and filleting knives. Come on into the shop and check them out!
