Overcast with light drizzly rain falling here in Turangi today.  The Tongariro is fishable as of 9:00am. No wind either which is a bonus for the fly fisherman. I have been walking the dog along the river over the last week and have seen some HUGE brown trout lurking around.  Might pay to head this way on a sunny day so you can spot them ! The cicadas have been chirping madly and I saw a lot of wings from them on the walking tracks.  The birds have been having a field day eating them.

(Below) A little bit of delayed coverage from the other day thanks to Peter Carty.  This is Claudio (Swiss Cheese) with a nice Tongariro River rainbow caught French Nymphing. He is fully covered up to protect himself from the Sun's harmful UV rays with Simms Sungloves and Sungaiter.

(Below) I took this shot the other day of farm paddocks looking to the Umukarkari Range walking back from the Cattle Rustlers Pool. We had a nice sunny four days over the Auckland Anniversary weekend.
