Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today.  About a 40 knot S / SE wind gusting at the moment. The Tongariro is clear and fishable should you wish to brave the windy conditions.

Pete recommends pointing the nose of your car into the wind to save the doors blowing off !! That's about the report for today ... best stay inside and tie a few flies ....

The wind is expected to turn Westerly and hopefully ease. Bring back the Summer weather from a week or two ago !!

Possibly look at fishing the Hinemaiaia in these conditions as it may be a little more sheltered in there.  Also the Tauranga-Taupo can be a little calmer.

We would say it is not a very good day for dry fly fishing.  Would suggest downstream streamer fishing but also pick the side of the river to fish on so the wind blows the line away from your head.

11:45am  The wind has eased quite a lot since this morning.

3:30pm The wind has eased to a gentle Zephyr .... Mk II ....
