Fine and sunny start to the day today here in Turangi.  All rivers are clear.

A few anglers have come into the shop over the last day or two frustrated at seeing rising fish on the Tongariro and are unable to outsmart them. "We've tried every fly in the box !" is the cry .... but still nothing ..... "we can't see anything except for Passion Vine Hoppers, so it can only be Passion Vine Hoppers" .... and as I said the other day another angler said " A fish of a thousand casts !"

My suggestion is before losing your sanity and having to consult the psychiatrist .... either look at nymphing or change to a wetline.

Other little birdies have been whispering in my ears that brown trout still seem to be lurking around some river mouths so it would be a wise choice to maybe have a look at fishing those.
