Overcast with light drizzle to start the day today.  Nothing major to upset the rivers. Light airs as well. This slight amount of moisture and cloud cover should be enough to move some fish into the rivers.

Duckshooting season opens this weekend so if you are not into that then the river should basically be empty of anglers and you will then have your choice of places to fish in peace and quiet ! apart from the odd boom, boom you may hear in the distance.

Watch out if you are heading over to Lake Otamangakau as you may have to "duck" (what would have been in the old days lead) from a bit of steel flying over your head ..... might have to fish the middle of the lake to keep out of range ! Also take some ear plugs if you want to avoid the noise ;-)

Do not forget Lakes Otamangakau and Kuratau CLOSE at the end of this month.  Last day to fish these is the 31st May. Also remember the upper reaches to all fishable rivers CLOSE at the end of this month as well.

Lake Rotoaira remains open until the 30th of June.
