Another fine, sunny day here in Turangi today.  No wind either which is a bonus. Looks like holiday makers have had a good time with only one and a bit days of rain so far!

A report in about the Omori Fishing Competition thanks to Phil Shields.  Phil writes:

Hi Graham, Kathy, Jared.
Just a quick update and some photos from the Omori – Kuratau Fishing Competition held on the 1st & 2nd January 2016. There were 151 entries and 98 fish weighed in – a similar result to last year. The weather was not kind to us on the Saturday and the heaviest fish of the competition came from the Tongariro (where many of the keener anglers headed for a fish – the lake being very rough)– this was a 2.74 kg rainbow jack caught by 10 year old Ben Spring from Hamilton. The other photos are of Linda Taylor from Palmerston North with a 2.29 kg rainbow hen caught jigging at Te Hapua bay.  Many thanks to Sporting Life and the many other local businesses in and around Turangi who so generously sponsored the competition.  Your support is very much appreciated.
Kind Regards

Phil Shields
