Fine and sunny with some cloud. Hot and humid. All rivers are clear and fishable. Boy have we been flat out unpacking stock for the Christmas Holidays !!  Haven't had much chance to get out and do any fishing myself. Was up in Taupo yesterday and heard a few cicadas !!  Bring it on.  Still early days for these yet.  They usually get going and then we can sometimes get a cold snap and that shuts them down. The Waitahanui Rip looks good and strong just flowing out below the S.H.1 road bridge there.  I was tempted to have a flick but had too many jobs to do up in Taupo.

The weather has settled a bit which has allowed boaties to get out on Lake Taupo.  Some good fishing and nice conditioned fish reported.  Harling has been working well ... traditionally done at first and last light using green orbits and yellow lady's.  On my way back from Taupo yesterday I watched a fish slashing and chasing something on the surface mid afternoon. Also try a big Grey Ghost as some reports of some good sized smelt.

Stacks of fish in the Tongariro still with anglers towards the end of last week still reporting some very nice fresh run rainbows.

Too much to do and too little time to do it !!

(Below) A clear and fishable Tongariro river as of 8:00am this morning.
