2:00pm Reports indicate the Tongariro is quite coloured but not high.  Possible slip ?? Anglers are not fishing it.

Overcast.  Warm and humid. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

It has been pretty quiet over the last few days.  The odd angler has been calling into the shop. Most picking up fish over the last few days, especially in the sunny conditions. Most reports were from anglers catching fish in the river on small dry flies. More rain looks forecast over the next few days.  Hopefully not too much.  This should entice a few of the early run rainbows through though.

As of 1st of March we are now officially into Autumn !!  Boy does time fly.

The Tongariro is still holding over 30 cumecs.  This has been running high since the start of January.  It has been quite a wet Summer for us here in Turangi.  I have tended to wetline more over these months in the slightly higher flows and coloured conditions. The fishing has generally been tough for a lot of anglers but going through my photos over the last few months, quite surprising I have still managed to do quite well. This has been quite good for me as I really like the challenge.  When it is too easy it gets boring .... with the flooding it basically means you have to get out and re-learn the river and this is quite good as a change is always good as it keeps you on your toes and keeps you thinking.

There have been a few changes in the river.  Some for the better, some for the worse, however going looking, seeing and doing will give you the edge on the catching side of things versus those who will just go fishing ;-)

(Below) Looking downstream to the tail of the Major Jones Pool.  It was really hot in Turangi last night ... roll on Winter ! Actually .... just roll on some sunshine !!
