Fine and sunny with some morning cloud.  Some good rain fell overnight / early morning but the Tongariro is fishable. The cicadas are chirping. No wind as of 9:00am. Wow!! It was hot yesterday.  My thermometer said it was 29.5 degrees celcius outside !! It was pretty humid as well. Much cooler today after the rain.

The Southern end of Lake Taupo has been fishing really well this year.  The jigging has been outstanding with some really top quality fish being caught.

The picture below is local fishing guide Bill Grace who is in his boat "Old Yella" anchored up at the Tongariro River Delta. Bill has been guiding on Lake Taupo for 25 years and really knows his stuff when it comes to fly fishing the Delta and also jigging.  I think he said he has only done two trips where his clients haven't hooked any fish.

(Above and Below) Bill was out having a fish himself the other day and landed these rainbows.  The fish in the middle below was 7lbs and Bill said was a "Koura Muncher". Check out the condition of that fish !!
