9:15am the Tongariro River is fishable. After a wet, wild night the flow rate is about 55 cumecs down from 75 yesterday. Snow is low down on Mt Pihanga behind Turangi and anglers could be in for a few squally showers on the river today.

A group of Nelson anglers have been in the shop this morning and reported anglers already down at the Tongariro fishing away.

9:50am  Boss reports one car at the TT carpark .... thinks it is a bit too high and coloured. The Waimarino and Waiotaka are still coloured and a bit too high.

The pictures below are a little bit of delayed coverage from the 5th of August thanks to Seth.  One of the main questions I get asked is "How's the fishing?".  It depends on how you look at this question.  The fishing is always fantastic .... possibly the question should be "How's the catching?".  My usual response having been asked this question thousands of times over the years is now a politically correct one "fantastic for those that are catching ;-)"
