Overcast with high cloud. No wind or rain as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

Wow!! Have we had some great Spring Weather.  This is probably better weather than we get in the Summer. You should be making the most of the nice sunny days with little wind by flicking the dry fly / dropper around.  I find the nice bright sunny days the best for this.

Plenty of fish in the rivers but there will be more spent ones showing up from now on.  In amongst these will still be some reallynice fresh run fish.

It might pay to have a burn harling on the Lake as well as some anglers have already mentioned smelt.

(Above) I headed up to Taupo to do some chores yesterday and took this shot looking back to Turangi.  There is still plenty of snow on the central volcanoes.  With the weather forecast for the next week we might get some more. Look at how great the Lake looks.  If you had a boat then you should be out using it !

(Below) I called in to have a look at the Hinemaiaia River mouth as well.  Check out the good strong rip. I should have had my rod !! There were no anglers fishing here ?

(Below) I called into the Tauranga-Taupo River mouth as well.  No anglers taking advantage of a nice day here either.
