Fine and sunny start to the morning here in Turangi this morning. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is highly fishable today.

Wow!! There has been some great fishing on the Tongariro over the last week!! Awesome nymphing and fantastic wtlining conditions with the higher flows.  The rain and extra flows have worked wonders. I received this email yesteday thanks to Wayne.  He writes:

Hi To the Sporting Life crew,
Had a great 4 days in Turangi, 4 more would have been better. Saw some very nice fish landed during that short time. Fishing improved later in the week for me anyway landing several good fat fish. I practiced quite a lot of catch and release over that time. Most of it was not intended. The first 2 photos are a couple of fish I kept Friday, great condition with nice pink flesh. Photo 3 was a fish caught Sat morning a little over 6lb. Flesh a great pink colour, a fish that didn’t want to be smoked, put up a great fight.
I had some great fresh fish, that put up a lot of fight which were great , with several actually breaking off.
Tight lines and until next time Wayne.
