Overcast but fine. Quite a blustery SW wind. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

The weather has been absolute crap over the last few days but .... anglers have been out and about still.  Most are still nymphing with some good success. The odd person has reported some good rises still happening however these appear to be good one night and a little quiet the next .... could also depend on whether you are in a windy pool or calm pool.

This wind is affecting the boaties ability to be able to get out on the Lake.  There have been relatively few days where the wind has tapered off enough.  Fingers crossed this settles for the Christmas / New Year period.

(Below) Peter Carty was out on the Tongariro River yesterday waving his double handed rod around using an articulated streamer and secured this nice silver rainbow.

(Below) This photo is last night at 6pm looking upstream to the head of the Major Jones Pool.  Jens was wondering when summer is going to arrive ..... snow is still falling on the central volcanoes.
