Overcast with light rain falling. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is fishable. This rain should be moving some fresh fish up river as I am writing this.  It appears last week there were some good looking fish hanging off the Delta.  With this rain, all rivers should get fresh moving fish through them.

Towards the end of last week the fishing was getting a little slow for some, however for others who like a challenge to nut out how to catch fish then it is worth the challenge.  Fresh fish will still sneak through in those low clear conditions but you might have to go through a few fly changes to work out what they may or may not take. Don't fore-go the bomb as a fly to catch fish as quite a few fish in my last few outings have taken that.  Also fish all day as the fish may just suddenly start to take at one particular time.  First and last light are the easiest for those that want it easy.

(Above & Below) A little bit of delayed coverage from Sunday morning. I had a quietish morning but after quite a few fly changes I managed to hook and loose three before I finally managed to hook and land this one.  It was a nice fresh hen. The bottom photo was just prior to release.  A nice solid fish.

You might also notice a new pair of boots in the picture ...  decided to get some fresh new ones to start the Winter with.  Also a new "dry" pair of waders.
