Overcast. Calm, no wind as of 11:00am.  The Tongariro is flowing at about 30 cumecs today and is fishable. I went to have a look at the river at lunchtime and it looked to have just a really nice olivey green tinge to the deeper parts .... ideal conditions for glo bugs and juicy caddis if nymphing and swinging a wet fly.

(Above) Looking upstream to the Hydro Pool at 12:45pm today ..... where's all of the anglers ??  Surely there must be some retirees who would rather go fishing than do jobs at home ??? They should be flocking to the river in droves now that the school holidays are over and everyone else has to work for a living ???

(Below) The " Reef " just below the Hydro Pool. This place is always worth checking in a big flood as the water bubbles up over these rocks and it looks pretty spectacular. I saw a rather large fish by the bank from where I was standing here.
