Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. A light frost to start the day after yet another wild night of wind last night. No wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is fishable today.

Quite a surprise to see the sunshine and frost after that wild night last night.  The wind picked up quite strong here yesterday afternoon and we had the odd angler in the shop later in the day that had kind of had enough.

Andrew headed down to the river yesterday lunchtime to check out to see what was going on and reported seeing 7 fish landed in 25 minutes with some really nice silver fish landed. Looks like some good runs have come through with the rain / snow and lower pressure that we have been having over the last few days.

Looks like a good time to head here for the weekend to fish and have a crack at some fresh run fish.

Good reports from the Hinemaiaia yesterday with some nice silver fish caught there yesterday.

Just remember that the Field Days are on this weekend so this should suck a few people out of the area to head up and look at that which will leave the rivers relatively empty for those who don't like too much competition for water.

P.S. Not far from the shortest day of the year too .... next thing you know we will be into Spring and the dry fly fishing ;-)
