Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi. No wind as of 9:00am, however this has been picking up in the afternoon to late evening over the last week. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

Still mostly tourist anglers calling through the shop at present.  Most hitting the rivers with a few heading over to Lake Otamangakau.

Most taking out small pheasant tails, flashback pheasant tails, green caddis, horn caddis, prince nymphs with Sporting Caddis, Elk Hair Caddis and Goddards Caddis for the evening rise. Others using dry / dropper combos with Parachute Madam X (PMX) dries.

A few anglers are still taking out green and brown beetles.

Boat anglers on Lake Taupo would be best to get an early start.    Most mornings have been quite calm but around mid day the wind picks up.  Towards evening last night it really blew here in Turangi.  The wind has put a few anglers off for the boat fishing over the last week, however being "Johnny on the Spot" to take advantage of a lull is a bonus.

Some very nice fish have been caught jigging.
