Overcast with some sunshine trying to poke through the greyness !! No wind as of 10:00am.  The Tongariro is highly fishable this morning flowing at about 47 cumecs ... hard to believe after the amount of rain last night !!

An angler just drove over the S.H.1 road bridge and said the river looked perfect for fishing but didn't see anyone take advantage of the good conditions.

I can probably vouch for most people here in Turangi at the moment ..... I think a lot of people are getting sick of the weather !!!  We've had hardly any sun for ages !!  A blue sky has been a rare occurrence!!!

I went out for a look down to the river at lunchtime and only saw one angler.  I think with the rain every one has gone into hibernation mode !!!  Even the streets have been quiet !!!  The river looked in top condition to fish though ... how come when I am at work there is hardly anyone around to fish but when I have a day off then every man and his dog turn up and want to fish where I want to ???

(Above) Fresh snow on Mt Pihanga at the start of lunch ... the rain came in towards the end and it will most likely be still snowing up there.
