Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is highly fishable today for both nymphing or wetlining.

On a nice sunny day like today it might pay to beat the feet and go and explore the likes of the Tauranga-Taupo River. Over the last week there have been some reports of some really nice, good solid fish that have been heading up that way.

The shop has been pretty busy over the last week or so with the School Holidays. The traffic on the Tongariro is picking up.  Its almost that time for club trip and various competitions to start working their way through the area.

Andrew has been working on the format of the Winter Fly Fest for August the 11th.  He is still a day or three away from finalising it.  I will post the details once we know.

Good reports from trollers out in Lake Taupo using Spotty Gold lures at present.

(Above) A small " Colony " of anglers fishing just below the S.H. 1 road bridge at 8:00am this morning.  We got some overnight rain but a few were surprised to see a blue sunny sky this morning with a light dusting of snow on the Umukarkari Range.

(Below) A slightly smaller Colony, lets say a " Gaggle " in the " Old Bridge Pool " ..... are the fish running ?
