Overcast start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind as of 9am. Light drizzly rain falling. The Tongariro is fishable.

No report on the other rivers north of Turangi yet. Yesterday appeared to be pulses of fish heading through the Hinemaiaia with the odd nice fish caught.

Just a reminder that you only have 12 more days to fish Lake Otamangakau before it closes.  This will re-open on 1 October 2016.

Also a reminder that we are only about 4 weeks away from the shortest day of the year !  How did that get here so quickly ..... "Winter is coming" ..... a few more months after that and then "Summer will be coming" !!! For those Christmas lovers .... it ain't that far away !  Geeze I must be getting old as time seems to be frittering away ....

Not too much to report on .... a few anglers finding the "catching" hard but the "fishing" as per usual .... should always be good.

Unfortunately I have to work between my days off between fishing and with daylight savings not too keen to get out in the dark before or after work to get pictures.

(Below) Autumn leaves on the banks of the Tongariro. Windy conditions over the last few days has seen a lot of them disappear off the trees ... occasionally you may hook them on your fly which will upset your casting until it either flicks off or you have to physically remove it !!
