OMG !!!  Another day of blue sunshine. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is clear and fishable. Sunshine is welcome !! The more the better for me.

Don't forget the small lakes (Otamangakau & Kuratau) are opening on the 1st October.  This will open up more opportunities for anglers if the rivers end up flooding. Don't forget to pack some warm clothing as it can possibly snow on you on opening day at Lake "O".  Also remember that Lake "O" and Lake Kuratau can also be spin fished, so take one of these rods if you find it too windy to fly fish. Remember no treble hooks allowed.

I received this photo and email thanks to Stu, Stu and Ed.  Stu writes:

Hi guys,

Just spent a week visiting from Tasmania on the Tongariro et. al.  Got a lot of great fish and covered plenty of water. Despite your lamenting the lack of sunshine, we got two cracking days but found the dreary days much more productive. Our highlight was 9 yr old Ed's first fish on a fly rod. Dad taught him to fish on day one then he picked up his fish morning day two!

Thanks for all your great advice and our daily supply of flies. See you next time. Stu, Stu and Ed

(Below) Ed with his first fish on a fly rod ... was it 10lb Ed ?
