Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind. We got some rain late yesterday afternoon / evening.  The Tongariro is still highly fishable today.

I ended up being flat out on Saturday so no report, then had the last couple of days off and found a couple of emails on the computer this morning.

The first one is thanks to Dave Walton who has now had an experience of a "moving log".  Dave writes:

Hi Jared. Tongariro river looked a little crowded Saturday arvo so headed to the Tongariro Taupo. Two boats fishing lake off the river mouth.. not a soul working the river to road bridge. Walked out to spit end and started nymphing. 17:00h ....building wind make casting a chore.. no hits so change to a woolly bugger, 10 minutes later snagged, gave line a decent pull .. only to have it tug back. Whoo. Line started peeling quickly off reel. RightO game on. A 6lb  (640mm) Brown jack in silver livery shore bound 15 minutes later. A pb fish.
Cheers, Dave Walton

(Below) Also another email and photo thanks to Geoff who got some "Intruder" wets specially tied up by Peter Carty the other day.

Hey Guys

Quite a hard day today on the upper river…a few fish but not really the size and quality that normally come to the swing, maybe the weekend hoards did the damage! I keep thinking back to last year when it was just sublime! Anyhow, Thanks for the ties Peter..I will be back for more of those beautiful Intruders!
