Fine and sunny start here in Turangi this morning. No wind. The Tongariro is highly fishable. The cicadas are still chirping madly once the temperatures get up.

Some delayed coverage thanks to Jens Muller-Buckland. Jens was roaming around the lower Tongariro down by the Delatour's Bend.  Not many pictures of fish but it appears he has been landing a few blackberries ;-)

(Below) Jens finally into a fish .... even managed to land a spare fly too.

Found a few more fish it seems. The last one came with its own fly. I caught it on the greengrocer and it had the black hopper embedded next to it when I landed the fish. It rolled a couple of times and lost the black one in the process. It had a bit of line attached as well with a Duncan or Uni loop knot. Anyone willing to claim it?

(Below) Fish usually blend in well to their surroundings and spotting them can aide an angler immensely.  Would you have been about to spot this one without help ?? Polarized sunglasses are essential for the angler as it cuts a lot of the glare off the surface of the water.
