April 2016 signing off

It's the last day of April and another month bites the dust in 2016, this year seems to be flying past for me. Tomorrow is the day when i start to assess my winter fishing needs, 1st of May every year. Time to check all the waders, the rods, reels and lines, flies, outerwear, layers, basically the day i find out what i need to get organised or replaced or add to the setup for when the chrome starts running. Be prepared for it folks.

It was a bit warmer this morning on my way into the shop, the wind that had got up yesterday has come to a stand still, not a cloud visible, it is going to be another great day to test your spotting and stalking skills on the Tongariro. Look to the edges still for some fighting Brownies and fish your feet first all day. I am still leaning towards swinging streamers at the moment and will do so again tomorrow when i hit the Tongariro for the day but I'll put the floating line back on for a blast also and try out a few new nymph combinations I've been wanting to give a run.

Graham Hamilton who was up on the website yesterday with his Delta caught rainbow sent through some pics of the fillets he cut from his catch. I'm sure dinner last night at the Hamilton household was outstanding. The Lake fishing seemed to be firing yesterday with several groups in the shop through the day showing us all pictures of their respective days. Bodes well I think for the winter so remember, get yourself sorted now and go big this coming winter.
