Overcast. No rain. Light breeze as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is highly fishable this morning for both the wetline and nymph.

Should be a great day to get out and fish today.  Looking forward to my days off !!!  We've had quite a few anglers turn up this weekend.  The Fireman's Competition starts next week.  This usually brings in an extra 50 odd anglers.  A few clubs and groups are starting to turn up now as well.  The river should get a bit busier over the next month or two.  Time is flying by.

Remember lake Rotoaira opens again on the 1st September, so this is just over a month away now.  Lake Otamangakau opens 1st October.

(Above & Below) It was just a tad windy here at the Waitahanui River mouth yesterday afternoon. With the lake being high and the wind blowing the waves in, the Boss said that it looks like the river isn't too far from going over the sand bar closer to the bridge. If the wind tapers off it might not happen.  Towards the end of summer I was driving to Taupo and saw a guy surfing just off here ..... wish I had my camera on me !!
