Thursday 31st May 2018

Fine and sunny with a mega huge frost this morning.  It was -3.2 degrees celcius at 7:30am. No wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

We have a run of nice sunny weather with the lead up to Queens Birthday weekend, however some rain is forecast for Sunday / Monday which will be a very nice bonus for the anglers who head this way for the holiday weekend.

This rain should entice more fish to run but in the meantime make the most of the nice sunny day on Saturday.

A few more cars are being reported up at the Tauranga-Taupo carpark with reports of  a few more fish sneaking through there.

Make the most of the nice calm weather to fish the rivers and to have a look at the river mouths.

We had a good report from some trollers out on the Southern end of Lake Taupo a couple of days ago using leadlines and Smashing Pumpkin lures. They said they couldn't miss.

(Above) Another stunning day here in Turangi today.  This is looking upstream from the Island Pool carpark at about 1:30pm.  I saw a few anglers out and about dotted here and there enjoying the nice weather that we have been having .

(Below) Looking across to the Island Pool from the carpark ... what a day to be out and about ... wish I was fishing rather than working !
