Taupo Fishery Regulation Changes 2017/18 Season

 

This season will see a number of significant changes to the Taupo Fishery.

Catch bag limits have increased- Anglers are now able to catch up to 6 fish per day.
Minimum length has decreased- The minimum allowable keep length is now 350mm.
Stream/River mouth restrictions for Fly Fishing only have decreased from 300m to 200m clearance.

Amend the definition of fly fishing to add guidance on leader length and fly weight-
Fly fishing methods have evolved as new techniques are explored. To help anglers, we’ve amended the definition of fly-fishing to include maximum leader length (6 metres), minimum fly line length (3 metres) and the purpose of specifically introduced weight can only facilitate sinking for a fly-fishing set up.

Licence pricing and new categories-

For the first time in over 6 years, a modest pricing increase across most categories has been introduced. Child licence prices haven't changed.
