Happy New Years everyone. I hope you all made it into 2019 safe and sound. Looks like a few people had a big night in Turangi to see in the New Year. Few slow movers this morning.

I was on the water at 6am this New Years Day with a Father and Son over from Denmark on holiday. It was a bit slow to kick things off but the Gold Bead Olive Woolly Bugger swung on and Airflo 40+ Di5 Line got the boys their first fish on the Tongariro and a meal for the evening.

Blair Whiting from the Hawkes Bay was in the shop yesterday, Staying in the region for the Summer Holiday season. He took a walk on one of the local rivers and put this beauty in the following picture in the net. Well done mate.

I’m excited for things to come in the next few weeks as I could hear the Cicada churppin hard this morning so not long now till they are on the menu and the Dry Fly Fun begins for big Tongariro Browns.

Have a great day and a stunner year.

See you at Sporting Life Fishing Outfitters – Turangi
