Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi this morning.  About a -1.5 degree frost this morning. No wind as of 9:00am.  The wind over the last few days has increased mid morning to become quite gusty ….. not sure if it will do the same today. The Tongariro is clear and fishable and flowing at 21.4 cumecs.

During the school holidays it has been quite good to see a few families with kids head this way to do some fishing, also in the last few weeks, a few “West Islanders” have turned up to get their fix …. one such angler I spoke to the other day said he hadn’t been out of Melbourne since March last year.

Don’t forget that you only have the rest of this month to fish Lake Otamangakau before it closes 31 May ( re-opens 1 October).  Also the upper reaches of fishable rivers in the Taupo District close 31 May as well ( these re-open 1 December ).

A reminder that the new season Taupo Fishing Licences do not start until 1 July so you basically have the rest of May and June to fish on your current licence.

A reminder to keep your heads low at Lake “O” at the moment as a few shotgun pellets will most likely be flying over your head for those in pursuit of a duck or two.
