Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi this morning.  Another good frost to start the day today.  No wind as of 9:00am, however going by yesterday this picked up mid day to late afternoon.  The Tongariro is low and clear and conditions are highly fishable.

A reminder that Lake Otamangakau has closed for the season and will re-open 1st October 2021.

Lake Kuratau remains open until 30th June 2021 and will re-open 1 October 2021

Lake Rotoaira remains open until 30th June 2021 and will re-open 1 September 2021

Also a reminder that New Season Taupo Fishing Licences are due to begin on 1 July 2021 so your current one remains in use until the end of this month.

(Below) This is a little bit of delayed coverage of Lake Otamangkau before it closed at the end of May.   The following pictures and email were sent in yesterday thanks to Bill Kratzel from the West Island of New Zealand we call Australia.  Bill writes:

Hi Jared,

Just a couple of photos of our recent 11 day holiday to Turangi. The Big O produced every day despite the weed problem as did a couple of remote streams in the forests. I usually can’t wait to fish the Tongariro River but didn’t have a cast in it this year. No need as everywhere else we visited was firing ! C u in 2022.

(Above & Below A nice sunny day on the Big ‘ O ‘
