Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind as of 9:15am.  The Tongariro is clear and highly fishable. It is just a cracker Spring day here in Turangi today.

We are still in the School Holidays and it has been quite good to see some Families passing through and staying in Turangi to fish.   They all seem to be having a great time and it will be even nice now that we have some great weather. I think we got up to 22 degrees celcius here in Turangi yesterday!  Great to keep the lawns growing !

There has been some fantastic fishing in the Tongariro after the flood of last week. Plenty of feeding fish now.  The nymphing has been awesome, the dry fly dropper is picking up (for those who are brave enough to try it) and the ” Swingers ” are swinging well.

Top flies for nymphing have been Hare and Copper and Pheasant Tails, Category 3 UV PT, smaller glo bugs, Green Caddis.

Top flies for Dry Dropper  are Parachute Adams, Royal Wulff, Irresistible Adams, Adams Moosetail as the dry and a Sawyers Pheasant tail or unweighted Hare and Copper as the dropper

Top flies for swinging have been  Olive Woolly Buggers, Orange or Red Rabbits and Wee Wets
