Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today.  Quite a blustery SW wind blowing.   The Tongariro is highly fishble apart from the gusty wind.  We got some overnight rain which was good to dampen down the dust and to keep the Dandelions growing.  This will have put a slight bit of cool water into the rivers to keep them ticking along just nicely.

A good spurt of rain wouldn’t go amiss now to keep the ground moist for the cicadas with the temperatures to remain ” up ” to help them hatch.  Too cold and it will shut everything down.  They were starting to chirp pretty good the other day when I was out with Hide but we just need consistent warm hot sticky weather to really get them going….. if not it might be the “two week window” in February only.

There has been good jigging out on Lake Taupo ….. when boaties have been able to get out if it has been calm enough ….. If it is too windy to jig then you can still go trolling …. take a few motion sickness pills beforehand though 😉
