Fine but overcast start to the day here in Turangi today.  A slight breeze as of 9:30am.  All rivers are clear and fishable.  The temperature has cooled off a bit which is nice and refreshing.

Plenty of Passion Vine Hoppers seem to be hitting the river with fish quick to take advantage of feeding on them.   Reports of smaller black beetles as well and I have even seen some black crickets / hoppers too which seems a little on the early side for these … usually mid March I encounter the black crickets.

Fish are getting caught by those that are catching them but there are anglers who are seeing plenty of fish but are just unable to hook up …..

(Below) Jens sent in the following two pictures of a nice fish he caught yesterday evening.  I wonder if it was something to do with the new Simms Boots he got yesterday 😉  Jens writes:

Thought I might have a keeper here…………Yes I did and photographed by me as well! ( Its all the same fish!!!)

(Below) Nicely filleted by Jens.  Look at the colour of that flesh !

(Below) I thought I would do my Andy Warhol rendition here …. bloody camera has packed a sad !!  The Fish and Chip angler was in the shop this morning and hooked these two good browns in the Tongariro in the dark.  Some good browns cruising around at present
