It’s another pearler of a day here in Turangi.

I arrived back from Auckland late yesterday afternoon to what felt like a blazing summers day. Shorts and T-Shirts were the go and a nice pint of Waikato Draught at the pub till the sun went down and it got bloody cold was the perfect way to end an up and back trip to the big smoke.

The reports from anglers this morning in the shop are very contrasting as it often tends to be no matter what time of year it is. The anglers who are problem solving and making adjustments to their setups, locations and presentations are doing well, the anglers who run the same rig because it has worked in the past in the same spot that has worked in the past seem to be struggling with the low clear river conditions and inevitably come into the shop complaining that there are no fish in the river. There are always fish in the river, just sometimes they are a little harder to coax onto the end of a fly then others and it is up to you to figure out the puzzle. Be innovative and experiment when you are having struggles.

I will be in the shop till Sunday then back on the road.

Pop in and say g’day and get yourself geared up.

See you at Sporting Life Fishing Outfitters – Turangi
