The wind has come back and has a bit of bite to it today, i’m sure there will be some creative casting in action around the river. We had a chap in this morning who has had some stream side surgical work done, sounds like he should have ducked instead of weaved!!

The reports have mostly been positive and the stories of monsters hooked and lost has some of the fishos upgrading to heavier leaders to try and get them to the bank. One thing I have noticed is that nothing makes a fish bigger than almost landing it. The river is looking in great condition with just a touch of colour, glowbugs have been popular as expected and as it clears further it will pay to run with naturals. Woolly Buggers in olive or brown have been swinging out the door, black for early and late in the day can be a good option. For some variety I have had some successful sessions using red or green Rabbits.

Not a lot of boating reports but then the strong winds has kept a few on the their trailers. The Tongariro Delta fished well before the last rains, with rain is forecast for late in the week so there could be another build up at the steam mouths. We have plenty of boobies in store so come and top up.

Pete and I are in the shop today so come on and say gday.
