Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi this morning. Not overly cold. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is in a highly fishable condition and flowing at 28.2 cumecs.
We got a bit more rain over the last few days which will have freshened rivers up and caused a few more fish to run. There should be some great fishing in all of the rivers after this lot of rain.
A little bit of delayed coverage from Tuesday thanks to Jason Bleibtreu from River Birches Lodge. These are some quite nice looking fat rainbow that look like they were about to run the river. Jason enjoys fishing the river mouths that flow into Lake Taupo. He seems to be enjoying the night fishing. Jason writes:
Hi Sporting Life,
River mouth fishing has been good. Got these three fresh run rainbows on a lumo fly and a floating line. I can’t wait to go back out tomorrow.
