Highly Fishable
0km/h

Overcast start to the day here in Turangi this morning. No wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is low and clear and flowing at 21.5 cumecs. These are highly fishable conditions for the angler.

I’m back in the hotseat after taking a few days off to head to the South Island.  Two very nice ferry sailing trips both ways.  It looks like it was busy here in Turangi over the Queen’s Birthday weekend with fish still getting caught by those that are catching them 😉

Neil sent in this email and photos late last night.

Photo of young Jax Dobbin who caught nine Rainbows by himself, all released, while fishing with his Dad Nick on the weekend.

I got this 6lb Jack on Tuesday. Nymphing with HnC no joy using chewballs yet. The river was busy over the weekend, lots of anglers about. Some good fishing for some. Photos from MJ swing bridge Monday morning. Sounds like there might have been a small run through the river on Wednesday and had a report of a nine pound Rainbow landed locally (tailrace) no photo tho.

(Above & Below) Neil took these pictures on Monday morning. Looks to have been a few anglers out and about.

(Below) Looks like Neil hooked into a beauty with this one !  Check out the spawning colours on this 6lb Jack.
