Overcast and humid start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is flowing at 23.3 cumecs and is clear and fishable.
The Cicadas are a little on the quiet side. The odd one chirping here and there. Reports of plenty of juvenile fish in the Tongariro. Quite a few browns have been sneaking into the river. Anglers have been reporting the fishing during the day as being on the harder side in the Tongariro River. Doing the right things will still get you into fish though. Evening rises reported as outstanding. Funny how during the day there are no fish, but come the rise and the pools that you fished during the day for nothing just boil with fish 😉
(Below) A little bit of delayed coverage from Saturday. Neil writes:
This is Mila holding up Richard’s (Dad) PB 5.5lb Brown landed on Saturday afternoon….first cast of the day too.
