It’s another fabulous day here in Turangi with clear blue skies and a slight breeze, a bit of rain would be nice then again that would make the grass grow and cut into my fishing time. The rest of this week is looking dry with rain on the way next week.

The Tongariro is looking great at the moment and most anglers have reported having success. The odd fish has been up taking cicada, a happy angler in this morning had a nice Brown take his offering yesterday. Quite a lot of Lacewing moths are hatchng now and the trout have been taking these readily. Some good fish have been providing some fun for those staying out for the evening rise.

Jigging in the lake has been going well, fish have been full of smelt. Smaller fish are showing up and we have heard from more than one fisherman that they have had two of these little tackers on at the same when jigging. Over the past few weeks the trollers have been getting some very nice solid silver Rainbows but having the option of a jigging rig on board will help keep the fish bin from drying out if the trolling slows down.

Our roving photographer Jens has been out there again pinning a few fish and emailing the scenery photos in. He always makes the most of his time in Turangi.
