Fishing Reports

Monday 13th August 2018

Overcast start to the day here in Turangi today. The rain is not here yet but that is supposed to arrive tonight. There is no wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

Still busy in the shop !! Finding less time to achieve anything at the moment !!

This forecast rain should work its magic in terms of moving fish up river yet again. Fingers crossed you get a bit of colour to the river as this should help most anglers.

Don’t forget to poke around in some of the other rivers for a bit of a change of scenery. We have still been getting quite a few anglers calling into the shop saying they have been up to the Tauranga-Taupo for a look.

I received this picture this morning thanks to Bart Burgers of Taupo who sent in this picture of a very nicely coloured rainbow jack that he caught in the Waitahanui about a week ago. He weighed this to be 11lbs. He said it was a very wide fish across the shoulder. We can’t believe the colour on the stomach of this fish. It was a nice orange colour on the skin. Bart said the flesh inside was a bright orange colour like Salmon.
