Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. A MASSIVE frost to greet the curtain openers today. No wind as of 9:30am. The wind may pick up later in the day.
It was reported that the river got a touch of colour to it yesterday. This was perfect for fishing. Every time we get some colour to the then you will increase your chances at catching a brown trout, especially on the wetline. A few browns from the Tongariro have been reported caught over the last day or two. These are still mooching around. They are usually caught first and last light or if there is a bit of colour to the water. If you get the right spot then you will catch them nymphing. They can be particularly fond of Green Caddis at this time of the year.
Nymphers have been reporting doing well on Natural Nymphs with some Mayflies still being reported hatching during the day.
