Overcast with light drizzle falling at 9:00am this morning. No wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is nice and fishable today.

The School Holidays are now over.  The next holiday is in a week or two which is Labour Weekend – 26th/27th & 28th October.  The pressure usually comes off the rivers now as most anglers prefer to hit their local waters. I like this time of the year fishing the Tongariro as you can pretty much fish just about anywhere you want to.

A few more anglers are heading out mostly in the evening to try their luck on the evening rise.  A couple of anglers reported to me on Friday last week that they had caught a couple of fish on the Sporting Caddis. Still seems like they are mostly on Mayfly emergers.

An angler in this morning reported doing quite well on small Rabbits on the wetline.

A few more reports of jigging coming in with some nice fish reported.  Jigging usually picks up in October.  Also the harling usually is quite good in the lead up to Christmas as the Green Beetles start to hatch.

Andrew Burden and Peter Carty testing their skill to rising fish on the Tongariro River yesterday evening
