Highly Fishable
Rain
22km/h
28.1m3/s

Overcast with light rain falling.  A very slight cool breeze.  The Tongariro is highly fishable this morning.

Generally when we have rain the wind stays away but as soon as there appears to be a sunny day the wind will pick up.

We have been getting quite a few overseas anglers turn up …. not quite so many Ozzy’s now but more Swedes, Norwegians and Belgians. They are usually pretty tired when they arrive.  Some have literally got off the plane, driven here and got a licence …. next thing is possibly a long sleep 😉

Most anglers have been hitting the Tongariro with most reporting good success.  The minor flush of 90 odd cumecs the other day looks to have moved some fresh fish up-river and dislodged some good nymph life which the fish had been gorging on.  That flush will hopefully have moved a few browns up the river too.

Can’t be too far away until the Green Beetle’s start appearing.

Out on Lake Taupo we have mostly been dealing with trollers and harlers. Some doing quite well.  Reports of plenty of smelt around. Try Grey Ghosts, Yellow and White Cobras … once the Green Beetles show up then look at the traditional Green Orbit.
