Fine and sunny in Turangi again today. Almost a week of sunny weather … I guess you could say we are experiencing a drought !!! No wind today. Another nice warm Spring Day. The Tongariro was low and clear first thing this morning flowing at about 28 cumecs.
The Recreational Release began at 9:00am and the river has come up to between 40-45 cumecs and is still a highyl fishable level with what I would call ” not a lot of colour “. Still perfect for nymphing or wetlining.
I headed down to the S.H.1 road bridge at 1:00pm to check out what it was like and a few anglers were fishing. Almost made me want to go fishing rather than head back to work !!

(Above) Two anglers fishing below the S.H.1 road bridge at 1:00pm.
(Below) Three anglers fishing above the S.H.1 road bridge at 1:00pm.

(Below) The colour of the water at 1:00pm. Ideal for either nymphing or wetlining. Today would be ideal conditions for the Skagit fishermen to test their skills.

(Below) A bit of colour to the water but not chocolate brown like in a flood. In knee deep water it is clear.
