Fishing Reports

Thursday 16th April 2020

Three weeks has been and gone and with at least another week of level 4 to go I hope everyone is staying safe and managing to find plenty to do to keep cabin fever at bay. After a very pleasant spell of sunny and calm weather our Autumn has become more typical with blustery cold winds and the odd rainy day. The grass is greening up and the deciduous trees around Turangi are turning golden brown and shedding their leaves. We had some heavy showers earlier in the week which put a small spike in the Tongariro River flow. This might have brought some early running Rainbows into the river and like everyone else we are waiting in quiet anticipation for when we can again spend some time getting our lines stretched.

Sporting Life Fishing Outfitters – Turangi will remain closed during level 4 but we look forward to getting back into the swing of things and supplying all our valued customers with the very best of gear for enjoying the activities which makes Turangi so special. Our online store will be expanded in the coming weeks so stayed tuned, to see what we currently have click the link and check it out.

My little bubble stretched the legs yesterday with a quick walk along the river close to home and between the wind gusts we spotted good numbers of happy Trout finning along the edges…..if we all continue to do the right thing some great days ahead.
