Overcast with light drizzle falling at times ( If you can imagine it). Damp and cool. No wind as of 9:30am.  The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

Wow! Have there been some anglers crawling out of the woodwork over the last few weeks.  Most places on the river have had anglers in them. It has been a little tricky finding a spot at times.

I was out and about on Sunday to have a look around and show a mate’s, mate some of the tricks of the trade.  His comment was he learnt more in half a day than in the last four years !!

We didn’t see too many anglers catching fish. The drier weather with the higher barometer usually tends to slow things down a bit but rain is due this week and the fish should sense this and move. Mind you I like fishing the nice sunny Winter days.  It’s good to pack a lunch and take a hot thermos and take time watching the day waste away ……

(Above) It was a really nice sunny day on Sunday and there were plenty of anglers out and about.

(Below) It was like Grand Central Station down at the Bridge on Sunday.  There were anglers in the water and anglers on the bank, anglers coming and anglers going.  I should have sold tickets !! Mind you there was plenty of water that could have been fished that wasn’t touched.

(Below) Deep in concentration changing a fly.

(Above & Below) I managed to hook and land a couple before having to head back home to do some chores!  It was just so nice being out and about on the river on a nice sunny day with no wind.
