Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi this morning.  No wind as of 9:00am.  A calm start to the day today. The wind may increase later in the day.  The last two days have been extremely windy.  If it does get windy then the wind may taper off just on dark.

This has played a little bit of havoc for both the Lake Taupo boaties and the fly fisherman on the river.  In saying that the anglers on the river have still done pretty good. Also with the wind it is easier to putt along trolling than to try and hold yourself steady jigging.  Traditionally for the lake, early starts and late evening fishing has tended to be the norm with it usually being quite windy during the day. Mostly the early morning start may be the best as the sun heats the land during the day and the wind picks up.

(Below) We just had local angler Graham Hamilton call into the shop who had been out trolling on Lake Taupo this morning. This was a nice bunch of silver fish.  He caught a really fat brown trout too.  That one looked like a Airship.  He said this is some of the 22 fish he has landed over the last three days.
